What to Bring
What Your Child Needs to Bring
A packed lunch in a lunchbox or lunch bag. Please label with your child’s name. We have a Healthy Eating policy – please do not include sweets, chocolates or fizzy drinks. Please do not include products with nuts as we may have children attending who have a nut allergy. Throughout the day children will have access to water.
[NB: When your child first starts they will not stay for an entire session so they will not need to bring lunch.]
An ice pack is useful, particularly in summer, as we cannot refrigerate the lunch boxes.
A drinks bottle - we will fill with water and your child will have access to this throughout the day. Please label with your child’s name for hygiene.
A bag, labelled with your child’s name, containing a complete change of clothes – eg socks/tights, pants, trousers/leggings/skirt and top – even if your child is toilet trained. We encourage your child to learn and explore through messy play, water and sand play, gluing and painting and exploring in the garden. We have aprons but the children can still get wet and messy and we do not have many spare clothes of our own.
Nappies/pull-ups and wipes if your child requires them. Nappies are preferred for ease of changing if possible.
If your child is coming out of nappies and learning to use the potty/toilet then extra pairs of pants and trousers/tights/leggings are a very good idea!
Wellies – we try to go outside as often as possible even if wet on the ground. Please supply a pair of wellies to be kept at Cherry Trees.
PLEASE LABEL CLOTHES, COATS, WATER BOTTLES, LUNCH BAGS AND WELLIES WITH YOUR CHILD’S NAME – THE CHILDREN DO NOT ALWAYS REMEMBER WHAT THINGS ARE THEIRS AND WITHOUT A LABEL WE DON’T KNOW EITHER!
Please do not bring
Toys - we ask that the children do not bring in toys from home as we cannot be responsible for them and they tend to cause upset when other children want to play with them. We understand that during the settling in period a child may need to bring in a toy to help them settle but we ask that once they are happy coming into Playgroup that toys are left at home.
Best clothes – please do not send your child in wearing their best clothes: we try to keep your child clean and dry but we have paint, glue, water, sand, playdough, whiteboard markers, etc for the children to enjoy!
Playsuits/all-in-one clothes/vests with poppers - these are very hard for children to get on and off independently if using the toilet or make nappy changing take much longer.
